Jonny B. Mitchell

Jonny B. Mitchell (February 22nd, 1986) was born in Newport News, Virginia to a family of 5, being cast in the role as the oldest. After understanding the Jewish lineage of his bloodline, he pursued Judaism at the age of 18, traveling to Texas, Maryland, Florida and then California. He has been a lifelong writer and first began creating other worlds and characters in the fourth grade. Graduating with a degree in Creative Writing from California State University- Long Beach in 2014, Jonny stayed in Southern California where he focused on winning the National Writing Month competition. He did win in 2015 after being included in the Sacramento City College writer's group. After trying his hand at writing thriller short stories and long poems, he found his strength in the fantasy genre, and published his first novel "The Collection: 1st Chronicle" on May 21st, 2020.

He is an active member of his synagogue, Congregation Tikvat Jacob in Manhattan Beach, CA and still applies the core values of brotherhood from his fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi. As a volunteer for The Trevor Project and H.I.V. activist, he splits his time between Los Angeles and Oakland, CA and is on the road to getting married and starting a family with longtime partner Garison Wash. He has a close relationship with his grandmother amidst the vast distance between them and keeps in contact with his parents often. Between writing and family life, Jonny enjoys the much needed time to himself on the shores of Long Beach, California

Jonny's literary heroes would be Robert Jones, Jr. and Harlan Coben. Both create moving stories that pull at the soul and have inspired his heart in the journey as a writer. He is also influenced by James Earl Hardy, Charlaine Harris and Octavia E. Butler.

Look for "The Collection of Protection: 2nd Chronicle", out later this winter.
